The Osprey are returning to Duckdown
Right off the private sand beach at Duckdown there is an osprey nest. We had the pole and basket made and an osprey pair returns every year around April 15. This year they are a few days early. We always greet the new arrivals with a big welcome. Within the view of our spotting scope, they lay their eggs (usually two or three) and proceed to protect them from wind, weather, and eagles! If all goes well, the chicks are born healthy and proceed to attend flying lessons from their parents. Then, toward the very end of summer, the parents head for more southern climes and the chicks soon follow. And then it all begins again the next April. How beautiful!
